ColourPop Nude Mood Arm Swatch

I get asked one question a lot by my clients: “What makes a nude eyeshadow worth purchasing?”. While there are so many beautiful nude eyeshadow palettes out there, it can be challenging to narrow it down to one that resonates and works for you.

Here is a palette that meets the needs of those who love warm-toned, neutral eye makeup. It has 4 versatile eyeshadow finishes, three of which can be used with the fingers for a quick application. Another benefit to these shades is the wonderful quality and performance that you get (did you see how cost effective it is?).

ColourPop Nude Mood Package

ColourPop Nude Mood On Eye Closed
Colour Shade’s on my eyes are: Wink Wink, Lap of Lux, Moody.

Colourpop’s Nude Mood Shadow palette is a portable, light compact that is filled with stunning neutral colours. I love the fact that you get smooth, easily blendable, pigmented eyeshadows that work really well together or blended with other brands eyeshadows.

The colours that are placed together offer a wide range of makeup looks that could easily be transformed into an evening or night look. The warm-toned shadows are created with different formulas to look beautiful in many different environments.

A little history about my skin before we begin:

  • Eye Shape: Tapered Eyelids
  • Eye Colour: Brown
  • Skin Colour: Olive
  • Sensitivity: Mild
  • Skin Type: Oily Eyelids
  • Wears contacts and glasses

Smell

I just love how there is no added chemicals to make a scent. There is no smell to these eyeshadows, it is scent free!

Texture

This nude eyeshadow palette has 4 different eyeshadow finishes: Matte, Matte Sparkle, Metallic, and Super Shock (Colourpop’s special shimmer).

The matte finish is very pigmented and easy to blend. The Matte Sparkle has tiny speckles of shimmer that are super subtle on the eyes, very pigmented with has great coverage. The metallic finish is my favorite, “Put On Heirs” has a radiant golden shimmer that is medium to full coverage. It builds beautifully on the eyes and looks gorgeous.

The only eyeshadow that I was initially disappointed in was the Super Shock eyeshadow: “Wink Wink”. It was so sheer and I couldn’t get a good build on it with my eyeshadow brushes. The shimmer finish was barely even noticeable.

BUT THEN I tried it with my fingers, and that was a game changer! As soon as I used my ring finger to apply “Wink Wink” on my eyelids, the shimmer intensified and I could see why it was called Super Shock.

Lesson for ColourPop: Use your finger to apply the Super Shock Eyeshadows. The oils of your finger enhance the finish and make it literally a one-swipe intensity with zero fallout!

Quality

My first thoughts when I tried the eyeshadows on me was: “Wow!”. For such small eyeshadows you are getting amazing artistry, amazing coverage, and luxury textures.

I really liked how they grip the eyelid skin and how the colours blend, but I found that the two Matte Sparkle finished eyeshadows (Mugged Off and The Cocoa) are a bit too soft and powdery. When I use my eyeshadow brush in these colours, there is tons of shadow pigment everywhere and the debris gets all over the packaging.

You have to be very careful when using these so that you don’t get tons of fall out on the face.

Packaging

The boxed cardboard is a recyclable packaging that has a soft, textured, satin feeling. It feels luxurious and matches the same packaging for the actual palette. The titled fonts have a raised lift so you can feel it when you run your fingers over it.

The nude eyeshadow itself does not contain a mirror, has a magnetic enclosure, and is also made out of a durable, soft cardboard. I love how the names of each eyeshadow are on the back of the palette with circles on it that are the same size as the eyeshadow pans.

That being said, the size of these eyeshadows is SMALL. Just a bit shorter than an inch. If you are expecting to have full sized shadow pans, realize that they are quite small which is reflected in the price. The good thing is that the quality of these shades is really good, so a little goes a long way!

ColourPop That’s Taupe Q&As

Is ColourPop Nude Mood eyeshadow pigmented?

Yes, the eyeshadows are all very pigmented, just make sure to use your finger for the Super Shock shadow: Wink Wink to get maximum shine. If you like less shine then use an eyeshadow brush for that formula.

Did the Nude Mood eyeshadow crease or have any fallout?

Alone without eyeshadow primer, the eyeshadow did crease on my eyelids as they get quite oily throughout the day from the eyelid folds friction when blinking. With my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, the eyeshadow did not crease at all!
There was fallout just for the Matte Sparkle shades: Mugged Off and The Cocoa.

ColourPop Nude Mood Swatches

How do you clean a Colourpop Palette?

Use a tissue to gently wipe the eyeshadow pans. This will remove bacteria and clean the shadow. Then take a tissue and spray a couple mists of 70% Alcohol. Gently wipe the area around the eyeshadows to clean the palette.

Is ColourPop That’s Taupe Worth it?

When creating gorgeous nude eye makeup looks, it can be hard to find colour combinations that work well together. This palette makes it really easy to wear natural eye looks IF your skin and eyes look good with warm-tones colours.

I know a lot of people that can only wear cool-tones colours because the warm-toned colours turn orange against their skin and/or are allergic to red pigment. This palette does contain red dyes ingredients in it, so just be aware of that.

The performance of the eyeshadows is amazing and easy to blend. Even though the outside packaging is a cost effect alternative, the eyeshadows inside makes up for it.

If you are looking to use a timeless eyeshadow palette that is natural, light, and has medium buildable coverage, then you definitely need to try this product. The colours really do combine to make the eye colour’s “pop”!

My final thought: If you do not already own the perfect neutral eyeshadow set, you like wearing nude shades, and your eyes look good in warm-tones, then for less than $20.00 you really have to purchase this product and see for yourself how good it makes your eyes look!

Would I purchase this again?

100%, yes. The price is really affordable for the quality, it’s a perfect travel friendly size, and the neutral choice of colours that they chose are something that looks great on most skin types and eye colours!

ColourPop: The Brand

ColourPop Cosmetics was founded in 2014 by Laura and John Nelson through their beauty incubator brand SEED Beauty. ColourPop creates many affordable, cruelty-free makeup products that are made, developed, and distributed all in one building. These two siblings grew up in California, USA and their company is located in Los Angeles.

The Nelson family founded Spatz Laboratories, a B2B (Business-to-Business) brand that used to be Estee Lauder’s and L’Oreal’s biggest partners. With over 60 years experience in developing, creating, and manufacturing packaging and formulations for beauty products, Spatz Labs is where they learned to be inspired to create a company of their own.

SEED Beauty started from the siblings in the same year as ColourPop in 2014. They helped bring to life Kylie Cosmetics, KKW Beauty, and have under their umbrella other sister brands such as Fourth Ray Beauty (affordable skincare) and Sol Body.
